A beautiful antique Edwardian heart pendant/ brooch claw set with a magnificent amethyst heart weighing approx. 18 carats. It has a regal, deep purple hue and is complemented beautifully by bright, white seed pearls around the border and up the bale.
Amethyst is the birthstone of February and is considered a stone of protection, clarity and tranquillity. Its deep violet colouring has been highly esteemed throughout history, adorning regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
The heart is held securely in an 18ct gold frame with a pin at the back so it can also be worn as a brooch. It was clearly a beloved piece and features a loving inscription on the back that reads: “To Mrs Mclachlan - Jany 10th 1902”.
